துறைமுகம்

 துறைமுகம் என்பது கப்பல்கள்
படகுகள்   மற்றும் வந்து தங்கி செல்வதற்குரிய இடம் ஆகும். இங்கே கப்பல்களுக்கு வேண்டிய பொருட்கள், தொழிலாளருக்கு இருப்பிடம், போன்றன வழங்கப்படும். துறைமுகங்களை இயற்கைத் துறைமுகங்கள், செயற்கைத் துறைமுகங்கள் என இருவகைப் படுத்தலாம். இயற்கைத் துறைமுகங்கள் இராணுவ, பொருளாதாரக் காரணங்களால் முக்கியத்துவமுடையவையாக இருந்து வருகின்றன. துறைமுகங்கள் ஒரு நாட்டின் பொருளாதாரத்தை பறைசாற்றும் முக்கிய அம்சமாக உள்ளது. இது மிகப் பெரும் சரக்குகள், பொருட்களை ஒரு நாட்டில் இருந்து மற்ற நாடுகளுக்கு கடல் போக்குவரத்தின் மூலம் எடுத்துச் செல்ல உதவுகின்றன.

ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரம்

ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரம் என சிறப்பிக்கப்படும் சுந்தரேஸ்வரர் கோயில் அல்லது காரைநகர் திண்ணபுரம் ஈழத்து சிதம்பரம் யாழ்ப்பாண நகரிலிருந்து வடமேற்கே 10 மைல் தொலைவில் உள்ள காரைநகரிலே திண்ணபுரம் பிரிவிலே அமைந்துள்ளது.சிதம்பரத்திலே நடைபெறுவது போன்றே பெரும்பாலும் உற்சவங்கள் இந்த திண்ணபுரம் சிவன் கோயிலில் நடைபெறுவதால் அது ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரம் என அழைக்கப்பட்டு வருகின்றது.

வரலாறு

இது 19ஆம் நூற்றாண்டின் இடைப்பகுதியிலே அமைக்கப்பட்டது. ஈழத்துச் சிதம்பரத்தில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ள சிவனுக்கு சுந்தரேசுவரர் என்றும் அம்பிகைக்குச் சௌந்தராம்பிகை என்றும் பேர். இக்கோயில் தொடக்கத்தில் ஆண்டி கேணி ஐயனார் கோயில் என்றே அழைக்கப்பட்டது. ஐயனார் கோயிலை அமைப்பதிலே முன்னின்ற அம்பலவி முருகர் என்ற பக்தரே பின்பு சிவன் கோயிலை அமைப்பதிலும் முன்னின்றவர்.

கோயில் அமைப்பு

இங்குள்ள ஐயனார் பூரணை, புட்கலை சூழ அமர்ந்துள்ளார். சிவனுக்கு அளிக்கப்படும் முக்கியத்துவம் ஐயனாருக்கும் அளிக்கப்படுகின்றது. சிவனுக்குக் கோபுரம், சித்திரத்தேர் உள்ளது போல ஐயனாருக்கும் தனியே கோபுரம், சித்திரத்தேர் உள்ளன. கர்ப்பக்கிரகத்தில் எழுந்தருளியுள்ள சிவலிங்கமூர்த்திக்குப் பரிவார தெய்வங்களாக அம்பாள், நடேசர், சந்திரசேகரர், சோமாஸ்கந்தர், விநாயகர், சுப்பிரமணியர், சண்டேஸ்வரர், சமயகுரவர் என்போர் எழுந்தருளியுள்ளனர்.

விசேட உற்சவங்கள்

இத்திருக்கோயிலில் நடைபெறும் உற்சவங்களில் மிகப் பிரசித்தி பெற்றது திருவெம்பாவை உற்சவமாகும். நடராஜர் இரதாரோகணமும் ஆர்த்திராபிஷேகமும் குறிப்பிடத்தக்கவை. அபிஷேகத்தன்று மாலையில் திருவூடல் நடைபெறும்.பங்குனி உத்தரத்தில் நிறைவடையும் படி சிவபெருமான் திருவிழா பத்துத் தினங்களும்ஆடிப்பூரத்தில்  நிறைவடையும் படி அம்பாள் திருவிழா பத்துத் தினங்களும் நடைபெறுகின்றன.தைப்பூசம்,   மாசி மகம், ஆவணி சதுர்த்தி, நவராத்திரி, கார்த்திகைத் தீபம்என்பனவும் விசேடமாக இங்கு போற்றப்படுகின்றன.

காரைநகர் வரலாறு

காரைநகர் இலங்கையின் வடக்கு மாகாணத்தில்  மேற்குத்திசையில் அமைந்துள்ள ஏழு  சப்த தீவுகளில்ஒன்றாகும். மற்றைய தீவுகளை விட யாழ்நகருக்கு அண்மையில் இருப்பதுதான் காரைநகர். இது நாற்புறமும் கடலினால் சூழப்பட்ட ஒரு தீவு ஆகும்.
இவ்வூரில் அப்பொழுது ஏராளமான காரைச்செடிகள் நின்றமையால் அப்பெயர் பெற்றது என்றும் பெயருக்குரிய காரணம் கூறப்படுகின்றது. காரைதீவு வடக்கு, மேற்கு திசைகளில் ஆழமான பாக்கு நீரிணைக் கடலாலும் கிழங்கு, தெற்கு திசைகளில் ஆழமற்ற வற்றும் தன்மையுள்ளபரவைக் கடலாலும்  சூழப்பட்டுள்ளது.
பிரித்தானியரின் ஆட்சியில் 1869 அம் ஆண்டில் அப்போது அரசாங்க அதிபராக இருந்த துனவைந்துரையால் பொன்னாலைக் கடலுக்கூடாக கற்தெருவும், ஒன்பது பாலங்களும் அமைந்து காரைத்தீவினைக் குடாநாட்டுடன் இணைத்தனர். இவ்விணைப்பு தெருவினது நீளம் சுமார் 3 கிலோ மீட்டர் ஆகும். இத்தரைத் தொடர்பினை அடுத்து சேர் பொன் இராமநாதனின் விதைந்துரைப்புடன் காரைதீவினை 1923ம் ஆண்டு தொடக்கம் காரைநகர் என்று பெயர் மாற்றிக் கொண்டனர்.
இங்கே வலந்தலை, கோவளம், தங்கோடை, கருங்காலி, பலுகாடு, களபூமி என்ற ஆறு பெருங்குறிச்சிகள் உள்ளன. காரைநகர் ஏழு கிலோ மீட்டர் நீளமும் நாலரை கிலோ மீட்டர் அகலமும் உடையது. மேற்கே உள்ள கோவளக் கடற்கரையில் கலங்கரை விளக்கமும் தெற்கே இயற்கையாக அமைந்த கப்பல் துறைமுகமும் உள்ளன. நகரின் வடக்கு பக்கமாக இரண்டு கிலோ மீட்டர் தூரத்தில் உள்ளது. திண்ணபுரம் சிவன் கோவில். இக்கோவிலுக்கு கிழக்கு, தெற்கு திசைகளில் பசும்புல் தரைகளும் மேற்கு வடக்கு திசைகளில் தென்னஞ்சோலைகளும் அதனை அடுத்தாற் போல கசூரினா கடற்கரை உள்ளது.

Karainagar striding towards Prosperity with newly dawned Peace.

Karainagar, an islet in the Jaffna peninsula in Northern Sri Lanka, is today vibrant with human activity. It is all set to reap the benefits of prosperity brought about with the newly-dawned peace after the liberation of the Northern Province from the LTTE terrorist clutches. The islanders, whose livelihoods mainly dependent on thriving fishing industry, are jubilant at the greater freedom they experience with the lifting of fishing restrictions which had remained imposed to curb LTTE terror activities that caused immense suffering to the peaceful nation for nearly three decades.

Today, the residents of Karainagar are experiencing a greater sense of security since the Sri Lanka Navy has taken all measures to ensure the protection of their lives and to facilitate their livelihoods. Through the implementation of many people-friendly community projects, the Navy has been able to win the hearts and minds of the people. One such event, the Buddhist festival of Poson, which celebrates the arrival of Arahath Mahinda and subsequent propagation of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, was held on the island last June under the auspices of the Navy, drawing large crowds belonging to diverse religious faiths. The event helped strengthen the mutual bonds promoting peaceful coexistence among all ethnic groups living on the island. The consequent cultural interaction, which was made possible with the mediation of the Naval personnel attached to the Karainagar Naval base, created a cordial atmosphere for the people to relish their newly-gained freedom.

The Karainagar fishing community is grateful to the Government and the Navy for the lifting of the fishing restrictions. The measure aimed at reviving fishing industry was implemented under the direction of His Excellency the President. The visit of Senior Presidential Advisor Hon MP Basil Rajapaksa, under whose direct supervision and guidance the lifting of fishing restrictions is being facilitated, has spurred the people’s admiration. The regular monthly meetings conducted by the Navy with the participation of the Karainagar fishing community have been greatly appreciated by the people since the face-to-face sessions have helped solve many issues directly related to their immediate wellbeing. Fishing permits are now delivered to their doorsteps minimizing the hassles involved in obtaining them. Priority for security clearance at Naval checkpoints is accorded to the persons transporting fish catches thus expediting the reach of fresh fish in the markets in time.

With the rising levels of income resulted by the Navy’s facilitation, the life standards of the people of Karainagar have been improved. Under the Navy’s assistance the infrastructure developments on the island have been expedited with improved roads for speedy transportation. President Mr. K. Iraj Sandiram and Secretary Mr. M. Ganesh of the Karainagar Division Fishermen’s Cooperative Society, sending a letter of appreciation on behalf of its members, have gratefully acknowledged the contributions of the Government and the Sri Lanka Navy in uniting the people and helping the development activities on the island. They express their heart-felt appreciation at the strong bond that exists between the Navy and the citizens of Karainagar and thank the Navy for its sincere efforts at improving the community relations and living conditions on the island.

காரைநகரின் தொன்மைமிக்கவெளிச்சவீடு

காரைநகர் கோவளம் கடற்கரையில் அமைந்துள்ள மிகத் தொன்மையான வெளிச்சவீடு நீண்டகாலமாகப் புனரமைக்கப்படாத நிலையில் காணப்படுகிறது.
கடந்த 20 வருடங்களுக்கும் மேலாகக் கடற்படையினரின் பாதுகாப்புப் பிரதேசத்தில் அமைந்திருந்த இந்த வெளிச்சவீட்டை சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகள் வருகைதந்து பார்வையிட்டு வருகின்றனர்.
மீனவர்களுக்கும் மாலுமிகளுக்கும் கடந்த காலங்களில் கலங்கரை விளக்கமாகத் திகழ்ந்த வெளிச்சவீடு இன்று சுற்றுலாப் பயணிகளின் காட்சிப் பொருளாக மாறிவிட்டது.

 பாலர் கல்வி முதல் பல்கலைக்கழகம் வரை உடற்கல்வியின் முக்கியத்துவம் உணரப்பட்டு கல்விமுறையில் சிறப்பான வகிபாகத்தை உடற் கல்வி பெற்றுள்ளது. உடற்கல்வி மாணவர்களின் ஆளுமையை செம்மைப்படுத்தி, செழுமைப்படுத்தி, வாழ்க்கையின் பல்வேறு கட்டங்களிலும் எதிர்கொள்ளும் சவால்களுக்கு முகம் கொடுக்கத் தேவைப்படும் பக்குவத்தையும், பயிற்சியையும் வழங்குகின்றது. மாணவர்களின் சமநிலை ஆளுமை வளர்ச்சியுற இது அத்திவாரமாக அமைகின்றது.

மிகவும் அழகான கடற்கரை.

Casuarina Beach in Karainagar, Jaffna 

Casuarina beach is considered as the best beach in the Jaffna peninsula and once you visit there it is easy to imagine why. Its referred as Kasurina beach, Jaffna beach, Karainagar beach etc so you might have trouble finding directions to the place.It is about one hours drive from Jaffna and although a road with direct access is being built we have to take a circular route to the location.There is an entrance fee for vehicles to enter the beach area and since you get toilet facilities and fresh water bathing facilities paying a small fee is worth it.The beach itself is pretty different to a normal Sri Lanka beach. Instead of coconut trees you get some strange looking trees, I think they are casurina tress, hence the name of the beach. The color of the sand is also a bit different and it was very soft making it a pleasant experience. The greatest thing about the casurina beach is the ability to walk towards the sea for miles. The shallowness of the beach combined with no waves makes it an ideal bathing place.
Since this is a very popular beach in Jaffna you get some shops here with food, handicrafts etc.There are no luxury hotels near the casurina beach and there were only very few small hotels as well.If you are looking to spend a day or a night you have the option of renting a house near the sea. The price is much lower compared to the house prices near Jaffna and you have all the basic facilities like toilets, showers, fans etc. If you ever visit Jaffna and looking for a place to relax, then this is one of the best places to visit.
